6. Will I be required to join a club?
No, but there are certain benefits to joining a local club. Some of the club fees are used to provide the dancer with insurance. Many halls and banquet rooms require the club to have insurance for the dancers in order to utilize the facility. Since the clubs are not profiting money, they need dancers to join and help defray the costs of insurance.
Other membership benefits include newsletters, social media, and e-mail connections. Clubs also can offer a membership directory that helps dancers maintain and strengthen friendships. Carpooling and attending area functions with other members creates a wonderful experience for dancers.

7. What is a typical dance like?
Most dances consists of "tip calls" and "singing calls". The tip call is like a practice round of square dancing. The Caller does not sing but verbally communicates the motions of the dance. It's a little like a puzzle. The caller takes a formed square and mixes it up and ultimately, has to put the dancers back into their original spots. The singing call is when the Caller sings a song that has a format as to how the entire dance will be done. Ladies will generally travel to the right at the end of each segment until she reaches her original dance partner.
8. dO i HAVE TO HAVE A pARTNER?
Square Dancing is a social dance style. To create the "square" it requires eight dancers who are coupled up. Most commonly it is couples who share life together. But, that is not the rule. A couple can be strangers who have come together for that moment to enjoy the dance. Once the dance calls begin everyone changes partners regularly.
Granada Squares Denim and Lace also offers line dancing. Line dancing is a single person dance done with a group of other people who are dancing the same style.
Many single people are not single by choice, and some singles do not have a willing partner that will dance. We strive to make everyone enjoy the evening and make new friends.
WE BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DANCE AND BE SOCIAL!

9. What if i mess up and the square breaks down?
Laugh...it's okay! Experienced dancers and new dancers always mess up. Don't make a big deal out of it and do your best to regroup the square. The best way to regroup is to form two parallel lines. The caller will see that you are in a line and he will do his best to get your square dancing again. REMEMBER! This is a casual and fun dance style! Apologies are not necessary!
